Chicago, IL (November 22, 2013): As Chicago ushers in the winter holidays, professionals from around the city and diverse industries will gather together on “#Giving Tuesday” for Dress for Success Worldwide – Central’s 3rd annual fundraising event: Women of Power networking breakfast being held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at the Hotel Allegro in Chicago. Serving as the event’s ambassadors in effort to raise awareness and funds for Dress for Success Worldwide – Central’s clients will be guest speaker Joi Gordon, CEO of Dress for Success Worldwide; event co-chairs Shelley Whitehead and Victoria Watkins, both prominent attorneys in the Chicago area; and keynote speaker Rashada Whitehead.
As 2013 comes to a close and we look to 2014, Dress for Success Worldwide – Central seeks to expand its reach to women throughout Chicago and respond to the growing need of services in professional suiting, career development, employment opportunities, and financial literacy. Shelley L. Whitehead is an attorney with legal experience covering a wide spectrum of civil litigation with an emphasis on employment law, insurance defense and personal injury defense. She is the owner of Whitehead Freelance Law, LLC, a company that specializes in assisting solo practitioners and small law firms with their busy litigation practices by providing legal research and drafting services. In addition, she serves as a speaker on the subject of fashion law and intellectual property protection. She is the creator of The LegalBombSHELL, a lifestyle and law blog that discusses the latest in fashion, law, health and fitness, sports and happenings in and around Chicago. Serving the community has always been one of her passions, with over a decade of experience volunteering in various capacities. Since relocating back to Chicago in the summer of 2012, she has been actively involved in numerous organizations.
Victoria R. Watkins currently works for the City of Chicago in Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s Office of Legislative Counsel and Government Affairs. Victoria serves as legislative counsel for the Administration on all state initiatives. Prior to joining the City, she served as Assistant Counsel to House Speaker Madigan, advising State Representatives on legislation and procedure. In addition to her legislative law work, Victoria counsels, researches, and writes on fashion law, entertainment and sports law, copyrights and trademarks, and other related fields. She is the Chief Editor and Creator of B.A.F.F.L.E.D. (Business Advice, Fashion Facts, Law & Entertainment Domain), a lifestyle blog on the topics she loves most. Victoria is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and earned her law degree from DePaul University College of Law.
Rashada Whitehead is President and CEO of Flowers Communications Group, an award-winning agency that specializes in public relations and marketing strategies serving multicultural and multigenerational audiences.
