Babyface Talks Creative Process with Oprah

With over half a billion records sold, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, among the premier songwriter/producers in the recording industry, is responsible for a multitude of hits, including classics by Toni Braxton, After 7, Bobby Brown, Boyz II Men, Aretha Franklin and Mariah Carey, among many others.

On a brand new installment of “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” airing at 9 p.m., Nov. 24 on OWN, Oprah Winfrey visits Edmonds at his home in Los Angeles to discuss his upcoming album and the stories behind his biggest hits. The 10-time Grammy winner also talks about his very public divorce from his ex-wife Tracey Edmonds, who was also his partner in their very successful business, Edmonds Entertainment Group, and contemplates the effect that it had on his children.

“You are famous for having one of the best divorces,” Winfrey stated. “How did you feel about her marrying Eddie Murphy?”

With a catalog that includes “End of the Road” by Boyz II Men,” “My Perogative” by Bobby Brown and “Ready or Not” by After 7, Edmonds, in this revealing interview, shares the stories behind his biggest hits, his process for creating music and the current state of the industry, as well as his fiance’.

Following the success of the single “Hurt You,” his poignant duet with his former muse, Toni Braxton, Edmonds is anticipating the release of their new album titled “Love, Marriage & Divorce,” scheduled for release on Feb. 4, 2014.
