“DANCE” Therapy for the Soul

Women in Dance Therapy brought together women from all ages (20 to 88 years of age)

Every 7 seconds an act of Domestic Violence occurs, every 2 minutes and act of sexual assault occurs. 1 in 4 teens are or will be victims of Domestic Violence. 7 of 10 adult women are or will be a victim of Domestic Violence. The City of Chicago Police Department along receives over 200,000 calls for service daily, 604 of those daily calls are for Domestic Violence. More than often Domestic Violence ends with a murder.
Eden Advocacy Community Development Corporation, Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Advocacy Agency featuring a wonderful collaboration of Women in Dance Therapy brought together women from all ages (20 to 88 years of age) and all walks of life came together for dance therapy. This art of Dance is not only Therapy for the soul and from the waves of tragedy but a great cardio trim down presentation. Pulse Dance Studio 6800 W. Cermak Rd, Berwyn, Illinois 60402 donated the studio for this great event.
The women danced non stop all evening, a Sixty Eight year old Women will give her testimony of the positives of Dance Therapy. With the current rising crime rate, women raising their standard makes everyone pay attention. We must remember 99% of domestic violence is a learned behavior. Juveniles are involved in 1 in 11 arrests for murder, 4 in10 arrested for drug abuse offences, 2 in 4 arrests for batteries/ domestic batteries and 1 in 4 arrests for weapons violation, robbery, motor vehicles theft, larceny-theft and burglary. It is also estimated that 820,000 teens become pregnant each year. This is 79% of our teen population and often 29% of that teen population has a second pregnancy within one year. We must put a stop to crime…. Let’s work together to break the cycle of violence.
